Having Involved Parents increases students success. Decatur Public Schools is hosting a parade and rally to celebrate and encourage parental involvement throughout the year.  More than 40 Decatur Public Schools and community organizations will participate in the H.I.P Parade and Rally on Saturday, October 1, 2011. This event will be held in coordination with the African American Cultural Society.

The parade will kick off at 11:00am in the Ameren IP parking lot. The rally will be held immediately following the parade in Central Park.

Miranda Malone graduated from the University of Illinois at Springfield with a Bachelor of Social Work degree in 2006.   She then went on to obtain a Master of Social Work degree with a concentration in community mental health from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2011.  While completing her studies, Miranda has held various positions with social service agencies totaling 9 years professional experience within the field.

 “I’ve always had a passion for working with the teen demographic in Decatur and the surrounding area.  I look forward to providing education and support to these individuals and I’m very excited to be the new 411 Teen Health Coordinator”.

Advocates for Choice Sex Questions Panel will be held at Lower Richard Treat’s University Center at Millikin University from 6pm-7:30pm on May 5th.
